Is the transformative power of music a manifestation of spirituality? A divine gift from a higher power? Or mere neurons firing in the neocortex? Whatever you believe–and whatever music you prefer–the enigmatic euphoria of listening to your favorite music is a universal experience. Join us this Music Sunday for our annual tradition where the MLUC music program commandeers the worship service! Our MLUC Choir will be accompanied by a professional orchestra to perform Federico Mompou's hauntingly beautiful Los Improperios. A topic close to my heart, I will address the impact of moving music to the foreground, identifying the emotional impact of music, and music as a catalyst for living our MLUC mission to "transform lives." Together–with orchestral accompaniment–we will sing hymns #108: My Life Flows On in Endless Song and #324: Where My Free Spirit Onward Leads, reflecting on both the power of music and the meaning of "spirit."
