Joy, Flowers, and Springtime for Easter

If you would like to sing in the Multigenerational Choir or play in the Community Orchestra this Sunday April 20, it is not too late to join us! We will meet at 9 a.m. in the Main Meeting Room for a brief rehearsal before the service. Participants of all ages and experience levels are welcome, and the orchestra is open to all instruments. (Children and youth are especially encouraged to join!) Sheet music (including chords) for instrumentalists, and choral scores are available here. If your particular clef or transposition is not included, please let me know so that I can create a part for you. Non-music-readers are equally welcome to sing or play by ear.

Our magnificent and eclectic collective of musicians of all ages and musical backgrounds will perform Handel's "Sing for Joy!" to open the service. Our Offertory will involve a bit of a surprise, as the entire congregation is called to participate in our performance of the famous, traditional Chinese melody the "Kang Ding Flower Song." The Community Orchestra continues with an original melody of mine—lilting and contemplative, composed during the pandemic—the "Springtime Lullaby" as our Interlude. Finally, and quite literally by popular demand, we bring back Vivaldi's Spring from "The Four Seasons" as our Postlude, but now including the entire Community Orchestra! Together we will sing hymns #361: "Enter, Rejoice, and Come In" and #123: "Spirit of Life."

See you Sunday!
