A Thank You from Abroad
During our November Offering Outreach—where we split our congregation's weekly offering equally with a partner nonprofit—we supported Unitarian Providence Relief Organization of Transylvania (Gondviselés Segélyszervezet) in their critical work with Ukrainian refugees.
The recent letter from Gondviselés's Director, the Unitarian minister Rev. Attila Vagyas, reveals how our congregation's generosity is providing transformative aid. Read on to see the inspiring details of how our collective compassion is making a real difference:
"We were delighted to read about the results of the 'Share the Plate' collection held over the four Sundays in November.
"We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the organizers, the minister, and every individual who participated and contributed with their donations to this successful collection. We promise to utilize these funds in the most efficient way to support aid efforts in Ukraine.
"Just recently we delivered our 12th relief shipment to Transcarpathia. This time our shipment included a $11,500 solar power system (inverter, four lithium-ion batteries, and the necessary accessories for installation). This did not include the solar panels themselves as we ran out of funds, but with your current financial support we will be able to complete the system and our next shipment will include the solar panels too. With this donation we aim not only to ensure electricity supply during outages but also to significantly promote long-term self-sustainability. . . . During our next visit we hope to see it already installed and functioning. Thank you again for the donation.
"On behalf of all our colleagues, we wish your congregation and all of our enthusiastic supporters a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year."
